About Us

One classic Chinese dish a day, cooked with care and love!

Maison Gu is a Chinese culinary establishment situated on the subterranean level of Westmount Square.

Maison Gu specializes in intricate slow-cooked gastronomy, crafting a menu that varies daily across 365 days, curated based on the seasonal availability of ingredients and their nutritional composition.

We are committed to reflecting Chinese culture through food, spreading Chinese food to international friends, and providing every sojourner with the taste of the motherland’s cooking. The meticulously prepared dishes by our head and sous chefs are certain to entice you.

Maison Gu emanates an ambiance characterized by warmth and familial familiarity.

The painting hand can also cook delicious and nutritious meals for you.

Find art in life. I like to do something to the extreme. I remember 20 years ago when I first came to Canada. I didn’t know how to cook at that time, so I started to study cooking. I also found that many parents of international students were anxious about their children studying abroad, fearing that they would not be able to eat well.  I began to have the idea that I could continue to enjoy Chinese food healthily with them.

Each dish narrates a tale, and I am loyal to the concept of healthy eating. Like a new mother in confinement, we will take into account the special cooking needs of special periods and carefully provide them with every detail in their daily meals. When I receive expressions of gratitude from them, I will carefully read them. It is a very simple thing, and I am doing it carefully.

I am Xueyan. I cook with heart and do things with love.

Vision & Mission

What exactly qualifies as delicious is subjective—there are as many standards as there are people. At Maison Gu, we anchor our offerings in authentic Chinese home-style cuisine, striving to cater to diverse taste preferences.

We use carefully selected ingredients that are nutritionally comprehensive, balanced, and fresh, combined with meticulous cooking techniques and restrained use of oil and salt seasoning. Our slow cooking is reflected in the fact that we don’t pursue speed. What you can’t imagine is that our nourishing soup had been stewed for 20 hours, and the meat filling required for our handmade meatballs requires us to spend at least an hour whipping it. We also introduce some seasonal health foods according to seasonal changes. Stir-fried green vegetables greet the spring; Peach gum and poria cocos soup with kelp and pork ribs dispels summer dampness and heat; Steamed chicken with chestnuts and taro brings warmth and sweetness in autumn; Beef, mutton, lotus root, and yam stew dispels winter cold and toxins.

As an art student, I've transitioned from wielding a paintbrush to mastering a chef's spatula. The impetus behind my entrepreneurial endeavor stems from a desire to infuse each day with thoughtfulness and affection through culinary.
